Goal.


The Rail Design Center and National Institute of Design, Paldi, came up with an ideas to make a souvenirs for Indian Railway Museums. 

1. To hold a research for understanding the essence of Indian Railway.
2. Tangible and Intangible connections of Indian Railway.
3. Developing clear and crisp briefs for developing souvenirs.
4. Making souvenirs for developing souvenirs shops at Rail Museum shops or gallery.

Design methodology.

Here, we tried to mapped emotions, stories, people, and history of the Indian Railway souvenirs. Majority of research done with a lenses of visual research.

Our brief.
Fostering the Indian Railways' historical  identity.


Indian Railways with more than 160 yrs. of rich history; presents a wide spectrum of both tangible and intangible heritage. It has its own visual connection with our generation in the forms of characters, colors, prints, texts, touch, patterns, etc. This form of connections needs to be fostered for today and coming generations in the form of souvenir. 
 
  • Calendar cum souvenir.
  • Character cum toy (Tic, Tac, Toe). 
  • Spinning toy (Talpatra).
  • Rare collectables.
